Day 3
Today we went on a guided tour throughout Turin where we visited the central square where the former royal families palace is, the royal Church of San Lorenzo, hot chocolate tasting, the surrounding shops, and had dinner at a nearby cafe.
We also went to shops in the area including Stratta, where Nutella originated from, at least an authentic version of Nutella!
Our tour guide also introduced us to an authentic Turin liquor, Vermouth. We went to a local café to try a famous cocktail made with vermouth: Carpano Bianco. The liquor is actually made with local Turin wine and herbs. The gallery pictures the drink.
At night we enjoyed a 4 course meal including:
Chicken, pomegranate salad
Risotto and cured veal
Pork Medallion with sauces derived from curry and peas
Chocolate cake with strawberry sorbet (it was honestly chocolate flan)
And of course a few glasses of wine!
Besides this being my first time trying veal, it was actually good, I just couldn't get past what I was eating so I did not finish every bite of it. But I did try it!! All in all, it was a day filled with history and amazing food. My favorite part was definitely the pork medallion.
