San Miniato

Updated: May 27, 2019

Day 7

Today we had the chance to enjoy lunch at a slow food restaurant in San Miniato, a small town in the Tuscan region, known for its white truffles. While in San Miniato we had the pleasure of learning from an olive oil specialist. He explained to us the importance of olive ripeness, color, smell, taste, and proper storage.

Most importantly, for lunch, we had 4 courses.

Antipasti:

Artichoke flan

Primo:

Penne pasta with ground beef

Secondo:

Braised Beef, very similar to a Hispanic dish called carne guisada

Dolci:

Instead of gelato, we were served ice cream surprisingly! Vanilla ice cream

This was one of our smaller, but most satisfying meals. We had the traditional vegetable flan like dish, pasta, meat dish, and dessert. My favorite was definitely the braised beef!
